The animated hit "South Park" ended its 11th season going strong, as it turned in its strongest performance since 1998.
This is good news for the franchise and Comedy Central, as it resigned the show for another three years this last August.
Average viewership for the show was 3.6 million, an increase of 4 percent over last years 10th season. That's the most since its second season in 1998. For men in the 18-24 demo, 6.0 was also the highest rated since 1998; that was a 34% increase over 2006.
For those in the key 18-49 demo, the series grabbed a 2.3 rating, an increase of 6% from the 2006 season, the best in that category since 2000.
Network officials also claim its the No. 1 original cable series in the male demographics of 18-24; 18-34; and 18-49.
Creators of the show, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, will continue to be the producers of the next three season, which will run through 2011. They will write, direct and edit the 14 shows a season, per the new agreement. The new deal is for $75 million.
