The Walt Disney Co. (DIS) was sued because by three disabled people because of their prohibition on using Segways to run around the theme parks in.
The people suing the company claim that while they can stand, they aren't able to walk far. Disney has a policy in place that doesn't allow people to use Segways in the parks for safety reasons.
Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Polak said concerning the issue that "We've made our position very clear on these Segways in our parks. Our primary concern is the safety of all our guests and our cast members. We have a long history of being a leader in creating accessible experiences for our guests with disabilities."
With the plaintiffs being from somewhere in Illionois and Iowa, I wonder how many times they actually travel to a Disney theme park?
This is a lawsuit that simply needs to be tossed by the judge. It's a waste of time and taxpayers money. Could you imagine one of those things running into a little child, as they travel over 12 mph.
Disney's right in this case. To say people can't use a wheelchair or other traveling device they sit on like you see in stores to go around a theme park for the safety of other people is stupid.
To now have to cater to a customized traveling device that could hurt other people for a day at a theme park is the ultimate in selfishness by these people. They can hide behind their disability all they want. They already have permission to visit the parks and use something to ride around in. That should be enough when it comes to public safety.
