Sean Taylor, the pro football player for the Washington Redskins who was shot at his home by an intruder, has died from his wounds today. Taylor was 24.
His father said in a statement that "It is with deep regret that a young man had to come to his end so soon. Many of his fans loved him because the way he played football. Many of his opponents feared him the way he approached the game. Others misunderstood him, many appreciated him and his family loved him."
Taylor wound from the shot hit the large key femoral artery, which caused a huge amount of blood loss. Experts said this type of injury is one of the hardest to fix, and can cause a lot of blood loss in a short period of time. If there is too much blood loss, it keeps oxygen from reaching vital organs or the brain.
After being shot, Taylor was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
At this time it looks like Taylor was a victim of being shot by an intruder in his home. Eight days earlier there was a report of another intruder at his home, making the circumstances a little odd. It's possible it was a coincidence.
There is no lead or description on the assailant yet.
