Mention the name of some Hollywood celebrity, and you'll find that more than likely they've at one time or another had an Israeli bodyguard as part of their contingent; especially one who trained with the Israel Defense Forces, which is similar to the special forces in the various U.S. branches of military service.
The two major reasons for the attraction of using Israeli security for celebrities are their excellent training, but possibly even more, is their reputations for flawless discretion. A celebrity, or anyone for that matter, could be destroyed either by physical harm or from harm of reputation. For celebrities, both must be protected.
"In America, particularly in the celebrity scene, there are occasional leaks of personal information," says an American IDF-trained security specialist. "But it doesn't happen as much in Israel. Privacy is of great concern. That attitude and conditioning translates to the private security field. Bodyguards revealing secrets about celebrity clients is considered unprofessional and in poor taste."
For special, high-level threats, it is the training that is the deciding factor in choosing Israelis, as Elijah Shaw, CEO of Icon Services Corporation told ISRAEL21c, "I've used members of the Israel Special Forces - its equivalent of the Navy Seals - when I've had a specific, high-level threat. They operate at such a heightened sense of awareness. Because of the constant conflicts there, they're always on alert; they never switch off."
It's easy to see why the discretion and training reputation of Israeli security is such a factor in celebrity security and safety.
