The ratings record set by Disney Channel's "High School Musical 2" in August didn't last long, as the ESPN (DIS) coverage of the New England Patriots-Baltimore Ravens game drew 17.5 million viewers, besting Musical's 17.2 million viewers. Of course Disney owns both properties so they're extremely happy with the event.
The "Monday Night Football" games on ESPN have accounted for 11 of the top twelve cable TV shows in 2007. For the month of November in primetime, they won every key demographic and total viewers as well; including the major adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34.
One of the major drivers in the mix is the current undefeated season of the New England Patriots, which is driving a lot of interest to see if they can become the second team in NFL history to remain undefeated. The only other team to do it is the 1972 Miami Dolphins.
