While the news that the sister of Britney Spears, Jamie Lynn, was pregnant, shocked and disappointed her mother, after the initial shock she became very supportive, according to Jamie Lynn.
Unfortunately for Jamie Lynn Spears, it's too late for her to give advice after learning the hard way about premarital sex. She said: "I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait," she told the magazine. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."
One side of this which is kind of sad, is her plans for raising the child, which she says will be done in her home state of Louisiana. She said the reason is "so it can have a normal family life." Unfortunately for Jamie Lynn, having a normal family life hasn't been part of the Spears' family for some time.
Even so, it's good to at least her this young lady wanting her child to have a normal, healthy life. Her response seems to show she at least in that area, has a good heart and good head on her shoulders.
There is some contradiction in the circumstances, in that recently she said she had no boyfriend in an interview with the Associated Press, but with the announcement, she said the father of the child is her boyfriend Casey Aldridge.
It's uncertain at this time if this will have any impact on her role on "Zoey 101." With the show scheduled to air again in February, and shooting for the 4th season already completed, it will at least give her some time to think through the implications of her new responsibilities. The third season is still running, with the last episode to air on January 4.
Nickelodeon said in a statement: "We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being."
At the initial stages of the situation, Jamie Lynn seems to be responding very maturely and responsibly to this. Hopefully she won't fall apart and become the disaster her sister has.
