The reintroduction of Don Imus for his new show includes black comedians Karith Foster and Tony Powell. Also returning is his longtime colleague and pal Bernard McQuirk.
Karith Foster has worked as a reporter for ABC, was part of the production team on "The View," performed on "Last Comic Standing" and "Showtime at the Apollo," among a number of other gigs.
For his first show with WABC, Imus had on presidential candidates John McCain and Chris Dodd, James Carvill, Mary Matalin and Doris Kearns Goodwin.
To get the obvious question out of the way, Imus reiterated having learned his lesson when he made the controversial racial remarks that resulted in his being fired and taken off the air.
Imus has said he will use some of his new show to sometimes talk about race issues, he added that many things will otherwise stay the same, "Dick Cheney is still a war criminal, Hillary Clinton is still Satan and I'm back on the radio."
While I've never been attracted to the Imus show throughout the years, it was good to hear him be feisty in these comments. If he was going to come back on the air and be like other announcers and hosts, he may as well have stayed away.
