San Francisco-based liberal talk show host Bernie Ward was indicted by federal authorities on child pornography charges. He faces two charges for using the internet to download child pornography on his computer.
After finding out he was indicted on the two counts, ward turned himself in to federal authorities.
KGO Radio Operations Director Jack Swanson said in a statement: "Bernie Ward has been a valued, long-time employee of KGO Radio. We were just recently made aware of these serious charges and are surprised and concerned by their nature. As the matter is currently pending in federal court, we will have no additional comment at this time."
KGO Radio is the station Ward works for.
According to Ward's lawyer, Doron Weinberg, he had the child pornography on his computer as part of the research he had for a book. The book was allegedly based on "hypocrisy in America."
Ok. You have a liberal, San Francisco-based, former Catholic Priest writing on hypocrisy in America, that needed to have images of child pornography to write a book on hypocrisy. That's the defense of this guy. Talk about the ultimate in hypocrisy.
His lawyer even makes it sound like the government was in it with Ward, saying they “investigated and they never found any involvement in child pornography other than this period that he accessed these images. The government knows that Bernie was doing this for an investigation he was doing for a book. But the government believes he violated the letter of the law and they have gone ahead and prosecuted him.”
In other words, Ward researching a book makes it ok for the screwball to have illegal child pornography on his computer.
The argument that he didn't have any illegal, wicked child pornography on his computer except during a certain period of time, is like saying I only murdered a few people over a couple of years; before and after I've been clean. It doesn't compute.
Hearing these types of arguments makes it look worse for the guy than better. He needs to be locked up!
