Talking with Oprah, Miley Cyrus said being a role model for her, starts with the clothes she wears. Even though she almost has an unlimited number of outfits she could wear, she always makes her decision based on if she thinks if girls and their parents would approve.
"I say what I'm comfortable in and what I like and nothing that's too out there. I like to look kind of like what girls would want to look up to, and their moms and dads will say, 'Hey, that's cool. That's different,'" said Miley.
She added that what's helped her stay grounded is her family, and the example of her dad. "My dad – he's a big influence, not only just because of the music but growing up around him," she said. "I've never seen him treat anyone less than with respect and love for everyone, down to the fans that wait until 3 in the morning until his bus pulls out at 5."
Other sources she said help keep her grounded, is her church, and friends she loves to spend time with, including Ashley Tisdale and Emily Osment.
One young star that Miley says she looks up to is Hilary Duff, who she especially likes because "she's a normal girl."
