A day after suffering a stroke, CEO of CBS Television Distribution, Roger King, passed away at the age of 63.
King was considered one of the top, if not the top seller of syndication in history. King was also chairman of King World Produtions, which was a family owned business that became known first through syndicating the "Little Rascals" shorts in 1964. King was chairman of the company since 1977. The company merged with CBS (CBS-A) in 2000.
Some of the big name shows he syndicated were Oprah, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Dr. Phil and most recently, The Rachael Ray Show.
Leslie Moonves, President and CEO, CBS Corporation said concerning the loss: “Television has lost a legend -- a truly original executive with an unparalleled combination of business acumen, passion and personality. CBS has lost a colleague and a good friend. It's a very sad day for CBS and for all of broadcasting.”
King, who was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame in 1992, is survived by his wife Raemali, and daughters Kellie, Anna Rose and Lucinda.
