The nude photos of Vanessa Hudgens online, stirred up a lot of interest this year, and it's even possible it may have been orchestrated to increase her exposure, as mentioned at webmetricsguru.
If that was the case, it sure would be a departure from the days of Annette Funicello on Disney (DIS), where they didn't even want her to appear in a two-piece bathing suit in films.
One reason I'm not sure about the Hudgens thing - at least in its relationship to Disney - is it would be too great a risk to take if it was found out they were behind her putting up the photos. The backlash against the highly popular High School Musical franchise could have been devastating. Even now it's not known how much the decision to sign Hudgens up for High School Musical 3 will impact the film series.
Even so, it underscores again how people interested in pop culture and celebrities love to tune in to see them do stupid things.
Although Vanessa did apologize for her actions, more photos were put up online, and it didn't seem to slow her down any.
It probably wasn't Disney that initiated these actions, but the publicity she received from it may have furthered her celebrity, but it remains to be seen if it'll help her career, or the High School Musical Franchise.
Her story and the photos was the second most popular story on the Know More Media network this year.

Dear media peolpe, I have a really good question.
Venessa what were you thinking, honestly you have a voice and money why would you expose your self to the world like that. At one point I did look up to you, but after finding out about this, that was not cool! Just when you think there are good role models in the world us youth end up lookn at a fake like you. Anyways you lost a lot of respect from pretty much everyone and saying your sorry isnt going to change anyones mind.
I think you should make an apologie letter and post it on the enternet and if your lucky maybe you'll win back your fans hearts, Just maybe.
sincerly A hurt fan :) _PinkZz_
