Cate Blanchett was honored with yet another award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival saturday night, as she received the Modern Master Award from the director of "I'm Not There," Todd Haynes.
She is beautifully pregnant with her third child, and loves every minute of it. It seems it doesn't matter what Cate is up to, she always looks good.
Blanchett said she thoroughly enjoys many of the small roles she has accepted in movies, and the travel to a variety of places that comes with it.
To me, it's that type of attitude that will give her a long career in the industry. I think from her past training in the theaters of London and Sydney, she considers her acting a craft, not a means to stardom. It seems to me that for that reason she's getting both without the sometimes destructive consequences many others can't handle.
It's also possible entering into film at a little bit older than other actors may have helped her to keep her bearings while many of her peers suffer meltdowns and untimely deaths.
Her wide range of talent and ability, along with the willingness to take on almost any role, ensures she has a long future ahead of her in the business if she chooses it.
