The plans to have a one-hour special show to look at the latest antics of Britney Spears was cancelled by Dr. Phil McGraw, saying that the situation was "too intense" for him to continue on with the plans.
"We had planned to tape a Dr. Phil Now show today, focusing not on the tabloid side of Britney’s latest problems, but instead on the very serious issues surrounding this case. Clearly, it is not just Britney's family struggling to find a way to protect adult children who cannot be ordered or compelled to seek help," said McGraw.
Spears was placed in the high-risk ward of Cedars-Sinai hospital when she refused to turn over her children to father Kevin Federline for a scheduled visit. She had to be taken out strapped to a gurney. As a result of her actions, a court commissioner gave Federline sole legal and physical custody of their two children: Jayden James and Sean Preston.
McGraw adds on his web site that he visited Britney Spears a the request of some of her family members. There's no word on if the show will be rescheduled.
