DreamWorks Animation SKG announced it will be partnering with Dubai-owned Tatweer, a real estate company, to build a theme park in the emirate of Dubai.
Tatweer is a subsidiary of Dubai Holding, a large conglomerate, and owns and heads the development team of Dubailand, a huge project being built to cater to the growing millions of tourists coming to the area. It is a large 279-square kilometre piece of land which already has Motor City, Falcon City, Dubai Heritage Visions and Dubai Sports City under its banner.
Included in the theme park will be retail stores, hotels and restaurants, which will be Dreamworks (DWK) branded. There will also be a number of multiplex movie theaters, along with a fund created for the purpose of developing games and films.
Warner Bros. Entertainment made a similar deal in September, with very similar strategies and goals, including their own gaming and film production company in the emirate.
Universal Studios is also building a theme park in Dubailand, having announced the deal in May, 2007.
This area, which is very friendly to the West, and is exploding in growth, with no end in sight for a long time to come.
