Thankful for the the Great Ormond Street children's hospital treating and saving his daughter's life, Johnny Depp donated GBP1 million in a show of appreciation.
When Depp was in London filming Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, his daughter Lily-Rose contracted E.coli bacteria which had caused her kidneys to fail.
Depp said concerning the experience and response of Great Ormond: "It was the most frightening thing we have ever been through. It was hell. But the magic was that she pulled through beautifully.
"Great Ormond Street was terrific, a great hospital."
After a nine-day struggle, little Lily-Rose was released from the hospital, and Depp has continually praised them for a job well done.
He also invited several doctors and nurses involved with taking care of Lily-Rose to the Sweeney Tood party last week.
Hey, I wonder if there's a feel-good movie somewhere in there? I think it would work.
