
This years' pick of Oscar nominations has left it wide open as to who will walk away with the hardware, as no clear favorites have emerged, and the usual surprises coming forth.
Some things that didn't surprise were the leaders in the number of nominations this year. Tied for first place with eight nominations each were "There Will Be Blood" and "No Country For Old Men." Right behind them were "Michael Clayton" and "Atonement," which received seven nominations each.
For the best film of they year, the nominations were Michael Clayton, Juno, Atonement, There Will be Blood and No Country for Old Men.
The actor in a lead role nominations went to Johnny Depp for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street; Tommy Lee Jones, In the Valley of Elah; Viggo Mortensen, Eastern Promises; Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood; and George Clooney, for Michael Clayton.
Actresses nominated in the leading role category were Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth: The Golden Age; Marion Cotillard, La Vie En Rose; Laura Linney, The Savages; Julie Christie, Away From Her; and Ellen Page, Juno.
