Talking from the Sundance Film Festival, Robert Redford revealed what his next two projects would be. His first one will be "A Walk in the Woods," based on a book by Bill Bryson talking of his adventure hiking the Appalachian Trail. It was a best-seller in 1998.
Redford says he'll star in the film as Bryson, and will also produce it. Barry Levinson is tentatively scheduled to direct the project.
"It'll be fun. I don't know when I've read a book that I laughed so loud," Redford said on Friday. "Also it's a chance to take a look at the country. ... The backdrop is pretty terrific, if you stop to think of all the visuals that are possible as they go along that trail."
His next project will be the telling of the breaking into baseball by Jackie Robinson, which broke the "color barrier" in the sport.
He'll focus more on the inside events on what Branch Rickey and Jackie Robinson went through to get it done; a story Redford said "nobody knows" and is "fascinating."
I'm aware of most of that inside story, and it should be a great story to watch if it's done right.
The Sundance Festival, Redford has been a part of for 30 years, concludes on Sunday.
