Dave Howe has been named to replace Bonnie Hammer as the president of the Sci Fi Channel. Hammer will remain president of the USA Network.
There probably isn't anybody better than Howe to take on the new role, as he's been responsible for the highly successful "Battlestar Galactica" series, as well as the successful six-hour miniseries, Tin Man, which averaged 5.29 million overall viewers during its airing in early December.
“Dave has been an inspired contributor to SCI FI’s success since the day he joined the team,” said Hammer, when announcing Howe’s promotion. “The channel’s on a tremendous roll, and the energy, creativity and commitment Dave brings to his new role can only accelerate the momentum.”
Since July 2004, Howe has been the executive vp of Sci Fi, as well as general manager. Based on his past success with the channel, he'll now take over the development of new series and overall programming.
He'll also be responsible to extend the Sci Fi brand globally, as well as grow their various Sci Fi Internet initiatives.
