A number of musicians and celebrities were connected to to steroids in an investigation based in Albany, New York, according to a report by Times Union of Albany.
Some that were named were 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry, Wyclef Jean and Timbaland. Times Union cited unidentified sources, which said the stars may have been in possession of or used performance-enhancing drugs.
At this time the police say there's isn't any evidence the law has been broken by the celebrities. That could possibly change though, as for now the providers of the drugs like pharmacists and doctors are the ones being focused on in the investigation.
The Albany District Attorney David Soares is behind the investigation, which has included a number of states. A primary place of interest has been Signature Pharmacy in Orlando, Florida. Soares won't comment on the accuracy of the stars being identified in the investigation.
It is probably only a matter of time before the focus turns to the celebrities, as records show that a number of them have taken possession of streroids, and some of the time used aliases to receive delivery.
The investigation at this time has yielded 10 pleas of guilty, while links to a number of professional athletes are also emerging.
With Congressional hearings about to begin in relationship to steroid use in baseball, it looks like performance-enhancing drugs are going to be part of the public conversation for some time to come.
