I thought it would be fun to see what's causing all the hoopla in India, as what is being labeled the world's least expensive car was unveiled to the public today.
It's interesting to see how brilliantly Ratan Tata marketed the Tata Nano, and made it a huge event. Of course the anticipation has been building as media coverage blanketed the process leading up to today's official introduction of the car to the public.
What caused the car to be put into a starring role across the world was the twist of being the lowest cost car in the world. That generated a ton of interest and publicity.
Another thing Tata did was create a huge show for the event, with the typical pop star-like media circus at the auto show in Delhi.
The car, which will offer three different price points, is priced at $2,500 on the lowest level; the car which is the star. It was made to meet the needs of families that ride around on one scooter together, sometimes with up to five members on it.
