It looks like Disney (NYSE:DIS) may have another animated hit on its hands, as the premiere of "Phineas and Ferb" became the second highest animated series to debut on the channel.
Why the performance was important is its pilot episode was a lead-out program for "High School Musical 2," which guaranteed it great results without knowing if it would hold on its own. The pilot drew 10.8 million viewers after High School Musical 2 finished.
On its premiere on February 1, it had 4 million people tune it to watch it, making it the second-largest opening for an animated Disney show in its history. The only one to nudge it out was "Lilo & Stitch: The Series," which was able to draw 4.1 million in October 2003.
For the key demo Disney is looking for, the 9-to-14 age group, "Phineas and Ferb" was the top animated series premiere ever in cable history, with 1.6 million in that demo watching the show.
For the month of February, every night a new episode will be run of the animated series in the 8 p.m. slot.
The show is about two brothers on a summer vacation who are complete nerds. It follows their antics during their vacation time.
With the help of the new series, it helped Disney win three of the five top shows of the night, also including "The Incredibles" and "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody."

That is an outstanding success for Disney. But who were those 10.8 million viewers and where did they come from? Does this mean that every child in America tuned in during the premiere????
