
William F. Buckley, who was the host of the conservatie television show "Firing Line" from 1966 to 1999, died today at the age of 82.
Buckley was considered the "father of modern conservatism," and was a master of the spoken and written word.
Other accomplishments of Buckley were his writing of thousands of article for a newspaper column "On the Right," which was syndicated at over 300 newspaper, and wrote close to 50 books over his lifetime.
He received an Emmy for the popular talk show in 1969, and was also voted the "Best Columnist of the Year" in 1967, among numerous other honors.
He died while doing one of the things he loved best: writing. His cook found him dead at his desk where he had been doing just that.
He is survived by a son Christopher, and four siblings: sisters Carol and Patricia and brothers Reid and James.
