It was exciting to hear the announcement that "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" has a release date of May 22, 2009. The film, which launches a new trilogy, has all the earmarks of another great series.
Of course it will only be a trilogy if this movie does great at the box office, as it's sure to have a big budget.
Having Christian Bale play John Conner is a great move, as I thought he was also best Batman actor of that franchise. That should at least give it an excellent chance at success, assuming the storyline is as compelling as the past ones were.
A new character will be introduced in this installment named Marcus, who will be played by Sam Washington.
Much is being made about the film competing with the second film in the Night at the Museum series: Escape from the Smithsonian, which will launch on the same date. I don't see the problem though. The two definitely cater to different demographics, so shouldn't hinder each others' success.
Having said that, it will be interesting to see if one of them changes their launch date because they think it may have a negative impact.
