Pleads not guilty
Saying that he had probable cause to arrest New York policeman David Rodriguez, Police Commissioner Patrick Carroll did just that. David Rodriguez is the husband of WNBC TV anchor Darlene Rodriguez.
"We took our time, we didn't jump to conclusions, and at the end of the day there was probable cause to make an arrest," said Carroll.
At his arraignment, Rodriguez, who is suspended without pay, pleaded not guilty to the charges, while saying nothing. His lawyer, Stephen Worth, said concerning the alleged victim, that she "has a number of motives to make up a false allegation."
What led to the fiasco was an arrest of the 17-year-old accusers' boyfriend, who was 35-years old. The boyfriend had been arrested earlier in the night, and Rodriguez was one of among four officers that responded the second time to a domestic call. It was at that time that the boyfriend of the accuser was arrested again.
This was what Worth was referring to when saying there were motives behind making the charges.
She asserts that Rodriguez returned to her home later on in the night and sexually assaulted her. Strangely, she didn't make these charges until a couple days later. Unusual, to say the least.
If Rodriguez is convicted of the charges, he could face up to 25 years in prison. What does the girl get if it's found she's lying? To me she should get the same.

This girl is probably on welfare. She's probably been dishonest before. The story (on another website) said she tried to get the boyfriend's charges dropped and when that didn't work, she made the allegation against the officer.
