I think it did.
Almost six months after Maxim cruely named Sarah Jessica Parker as the "Unsexiest Woman Alive," Parker has chosen this time to respond to the assertions.
With the movie a little over two months away, it gives Parker and the film some added publicity and keeps her name in the public eye.
While I don't think this was a co-ordinated marketing campaign, with Maxim delivering the line and then being taken up by Parker for marketing purposes, I do think Parker is wisely taking advantage of it and is gaining sympathy and support from her many fans; even those that weren't her fans in the past.
It's gutsy really, when you consider she does had to take a hit for the team by keeping the "unsexiest" label in the public eye at a time when nobody really was thinking about it any more.
She recently said this about the dubious title: "It's so brutal in a way, so filled with rage and anger. Do I have big fake boobs, Botox and big lips? No. Do I fit some ideals and standards of some men writing in a men's magazine? Maybe not ... It's condemnation, it's insane. What can I do? I guess you can't please all people."
I would be willing to bet the response at this time is very much been put together by the marketers of the film, and is being used to project Parker and the movie into the public conscious.
When I mentioned I don't believe it was coordinated above, I meant between Maxim and those in the project. Now that it came out, it seems they've decided to run with it.
Parker is not only a good sport in it, she needs to get some extra hazardous duty pay for allowing herself to be put through the ringer again.
