A report in the New York Daily News says that Paul McCartney has agreed to a $50 million settlement with his estranged wife, Heather Mills.
Word is the British High Court will make the settlement official on Monday. This actually isn't too bad of news for McCartney, as many thought Mills could get a much higher amount.
British law is different from American law, in that pre-nubs aren't part of the system, and isn't a recourse to protect your assets.
The very public battle over McCartney's fortune has been a back and forth affair, with McCartney having the support of the general public, as Mills attempted to squeeze him for more of his fortune.
When you consider they were only married for four years, and she didn't add anything to their income, she should consider herself fortunate to walk away with this much.
McCartney was probably waiting to settle this issue before releasing the Beatle's catalong online, which will soon be released on Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iTunes.
