Confirmation has come in that author of the Harry Potter novels, J.K. Rowling, has given her approval for the last book in the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," to be presented as two films.
While the news is exciting, the names of the films won't be, as they'll be labeld with the monikers of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II," according to producer David Heyman, who was cited by the L.A. Times, who broke the story.
The rumor has been swirling around for some time that this might be the way things may go in the final installment, and it seems everyone involved is thrilled that it has been approved of and confirmed.
Heyman was quick to assure everyone that this decision wasn't made for commercial reasons, but when you think of it: who cares? Fans will love an extra chance to see the film series, and won't complain about putting out a little more money, or having to wait a few months longer to see the final show.
It's much better than cutting huge portions out of the last book; which is an ongoing, non-stop ending to the story. After going through this much of the story, it would be a disaster to end it on a poor note. It looks like that isn't going to happen now.
Heyman asked Rowling for her blessing on the idea, and she reportedly had no problems with it going that way.
The last two films will be released in November 2010 and in May 2011.
The next book in the series coming out on film, "Half-Blood Prince," started filming in September 2007. It's due to be released November 21 of 2008.

I cannot understand why millions of parents around the world allow their children to read these books about magic and fantasy. My idea is that these books are mentally unhealthy not just for children but even adults, because it promotes escapism into magic and fantasy. Most people mix reality with fantasy and that may may the root cause of some of the many crimes we complain about today. On one hand, we create criminal minds through the millions of crime movies, TV shows and books and on the other hand we bemoan the excessive violence and crime that have become epidemic in our societies. I am sure human beings have gone completely loco.
