As bizofshowbiz reported early this month, Kathie Lee Gifford will be returning to telesvision on NBC's Today show during the fourth hour segment.
On the NBC (NYSE: GE) morning show Monday morning, Gifford confirmed she'll be joining anchor Hoda Kotb starting April 7.
Gifford was the popular co-host with Regis Philbin on "Live With Regis and Kathie Lee" when she left eight years ago.
She said the only way she would return to television would be if the right opportunity came along.
Gifford said concerning this opportunity that "The Today Show is the crown jewel of morning television and has been for decades. I'm deeply honored that NBC has asked me to join their talented family, many of whom have been friends of mine for years."
Of course all the detractors of Gifford have been slamming the move, saying nobody liked her, but the truth is she was extremely popular among a certain female demographic, and more than likely will help shore up the viewership of the hour she's on the show.
I think she'll draw back her former audience to a certain degree, and will help NBC in the long run.

NBC sure must be hard up that they went after Kathy Lee. Of course they let alot of the news people go because of the high wages so they must be going after "cheap" labor in the other fields too.
