This weeks format was unusal, in that for the first time there was a double elimination. While one of the dancers were no doubt going to be the first one tossed, there were several others that easily could have been the second contestant.
The obvious person that never really had a chance, although she really gave it her best shot was Monica Seles.
Being very gracious in her early exodus from the show, Seles said, "I'm a huge fan of dance now and I look forward to continuing."
On the men's side, Penn Jillette was the next contestant to get the axe, who wasn't surprised by early departure from the dance competition either.
He responded humorously saying, "I want to be clear, we are not giving up. We're going to rehearse all week and we will be back there [performing] in the parking lot."
On the leader side, Kristi Yamaguchi continued her solid performance, equaling her total last week of 27 again; although this time with a mambo instead of a foxtrot.
This is no surprise of course, and she must be considered the favorite at this time to take the overall price, but the season is young and anything could happen.
