The national champion of NCAA men's basketball has been crowned, and Kansas has walked away with bragging rights, pride and the hardware, beating Memphis 75 to 68.
Both the contestants weren't the favorites, as many of those watching and projecting thought North Carolina had the deal sealed. Kansas of course took care of that business to get to the championship game, as Memphis did with UCLA.
The pros and cons on both teams made this game look like each one had the potential to easily be victorious, but all that was the overemphasis of the strengths each team had. As always, it comes down to execution, and this championship game was no different.
With a little over two minutes over in regulation, Memphis pretty much had the game in hand with a 60 to 51 point lead. Unbelievably they weren't able to make their free throws under pressure, as Kansas fouled them again and again, while able to hit some three pointers to tie it up.
They dominated the overtime to win the national championship. Congratulations to the Jayhawks for winning their third national title.
