The 5-year-old daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman was killed on Wednesday, when her brother, who is a teenager, backed up a SUV over her while playing in the driveway.
Maria Sue Chapman was killed while the family was celebrating the graduation of their son, as well as engagement of their daughter.
Maria was pronounced dead after being airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital. The family lives in the Nashville area.
Steven Curtis Chapman has won 50 Dove awards, along with 5 Grammys. Maria was their youngest child, and had been adopted from China through Shaohannah's Hope. Chapman has three adopted children, as well as three biological children.
