Bo Diddley, who was an original in music, and considered one of the fathers of rock 'n' roll, died today at 79.
Even though he had a tremendous influence on rock music, you definitely couldn't call him only a rock musician and performer, as his music transcended just one genre.
Diddley's original "hambone" beat is one of the longest copied and built-upon in the industry, and endures even now.
In May 2007 Diddley had suffered a stroke while touring, and three months later a heart attack in August 2007. He died of heart failure today.
Diddley was easily identifiable with his unique, homemade square guitar, dark glasses, and black hat. He was a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1987.
