
The host of "Meet the Press" and author Tim Russert died suddenly today of a heart attack. Russert was 58.
He collapsed while at work, recording voice overs at the NBC (NYSE:GE) Washington bureau for the Sunday edition of "Meet the Press."
The network said he was in the studio recording promotions for this Sunday’s “Meet the Press.”
NBC Universal CEO and president Jeff Zucker said in a statement:
“We are heartbroken at the sudden passing of Tim Russert. We have lost a beloved member of our NBC Universal family and the news world has lost one of its finest. The enormity of this loss cannot be overstated. More than a journalist, Tim was a remarkable family man."
Russert is survived by his wife Maureen and son Luke.
