In a very short time, Beyonce Knowles has put herself into position to become the highest paid black woman in Hollywood, with her performance in the upcoming Dreamgirls. The show itself is a fictionalized mirror of the popular 1960s act Diana Ross and the Supremes. Many that have screened it believe it will have a chance at a number of Oscar nominations. Knowles has seen her film fee increase to $12.5 million. This is over twice as much as she earned "Austin Powers Goldmember." This comes at a time when a number of actors in Hollywood are taking pay cuts to be able to participate in potential Oscar winning pictures. She is also projected to make $24 million on the Dreamgirls CD, where she is estimated to have an unually high royalty rate of 17 percent; especially since none of the music or songs were written by her.
